Lighthouse Learning Network has scheduled another FREE round of the Food Industry & Restaurant Service Training program, this time in Gibsons. The program starts March 3, 2010, and runs for 10 weeks for 3 days per week, 9:30-2:30, until May 7 at St. Bart’s Anglican Church in Gibsons.

The program was developed in consultation with local restaurants and provides Sunshine Coast residents the opportunity to develop skills in the food services industry, and to learn and practice the organizing of menus, working in the kitchen, and serving the public.

The beautiful Sechelt Indian Band Hall was the site of a lunch-time restaurant catered by participant teams of the FIRST Program for three days a week during July and November in 2009. The program was offered for two 6-week sessions at Rockwood Lodge in Sechelt in the spring of 2009. Proceeds from the restaurant go towards supporting the students’ learning experience.
